January 2024 ~ HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE CARE RESOLUTIONS TEAM~
January is Glaucoma Awareness Month and the only way to check for it is to get a comprehensive dilated eye exam. There’s no cure for glaucoma, but starting treatment as early as possible can help stop vision loss. Anyone can get glaucoma, but some people are at higher risk, including people who are over age 60. Glaucoma is called “the sneak thief of sight” since there are no symptoms and once vision is lost, it’s permanent. As much as 40% of vision can be lost without a person noticing. Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in the world, according to the World Health Organization.
In New England, we may …or may not get some snow this year.
If it snows it is your responsibility to remove any snow and ice from the driveway and walkways to the entrance of the home. This is extremely important to prevent injury or falls for our home health care workers. It’s also important to keep you or your loved one safe from falls & injury.
Please make sure those areas are attended to before an aide arrives at the home for their shift. If you need any help finding and hiring a snow plow driver, please let us know and we can assist you with finding someone.
Extra salt or sand on the front porch can be handy if you need to spread some in a pinch.
Stay warm! Stay Safe!
